About Me

Hi everyone and thanks for visiting the site!

A little bit about me, I'm 27 and now living in Perth having taken up a job as an ecologist doing fauna surveys across Western Australia.

Growing up in Tassie I used to spend a lot of time outdoors in the bush  either by myself or on 4WD trips with my family to remote parts of the state. I always had an interest in wildlife and when I was spending time indoors it was usually in front of the tv watching the latest David Attenborough documentary or Steve Irwin diving on a crocodile.

When we moved to Melbourne I began catching skinks in the garden and started looking at subjects to study in school that would lead to a career in biology. I really only looked at one university open day and that was La Trobe University. Through my course there I began to develop an interest in arid zone ecology and the physiology of reptiles. This eventually lead to my honours year at the University of Ballarat where I studied the thermal ecology of geckos in the Casuarina woodlands of western NSW.

I've created this blog to keep a record of the trips I go on (and have been on) either through work or privately. All opinions expressed on here are my own. For any missed ID's or questions my email is chriscooperecology@gmail.com

Cheers

Chris
